Description

About Friendship House Our Vision: Everyone has a place to call home. Our Mission Statement: Uniting people facing homelessness with loving, supportive communities they can call home. About Us: Friendship House works with people who are experiencing homelessness, houselessness, or both. Homelessness and houselessness are defined differently. Homelessness is the loss of community and houselessness is the loss of one’s physical residence. When someone loses their community and is experiencing homelessness, houselessness can be quick to follow. Someone can lose their residency suddenly, and then they may experience homelessness. Therefore, FH strives to ensure every person is ultimately connected to a loving supportive community in order to break the cycle of homelessness and houselessness. Ensuring love and support are at the heart of all we do, we address houselessness and homelessness through our programs such as the Clothing Bank, Empowerment Centers, Winter Programming, Financial Assistance, and Transitional Housing. For more than 35 years, Friendship House has served the Delaware community with the support of volunteers, donors, community partners, and faith partners. Serving more than 14,000 people annually through our programs, we aim to fill gaps and support those experiencing homelessness, houselessness, and both. Regardless of one’s story or how they come to FH, we believe everyone deserves a place to call home. Values: We strive for every person to be treated with mutual: Love, Respect, Compassion, Grace, Acceptance, Beliefs: We believe every person deserves to have: Hope, Safety, Unending support, Hospitality, Empowerment, Education, Advocacy, A healthy lifestyle.
